About
The early years of Carey’s life were filled with a great balance of work and play. Being the third born son of two college professors, much emphasis was put on education. He particularly excelled in science as well as music. But, in addition to schooling, sports played a major part in his upbringing. Having a soccer coach for a dad and two athletic older brothers, Carey ended up playing a wide array of sports from soccer, baseball, and basketball, to track, skateboarding, and golf. During which time, he picked up the intricacies of the human body in motion. While remaining active in high school, Carey’s focus began gradually shifting more and more toward playing music. Then, he developed teaching, communication, and leadership skills as a drum major of his high school band.
After graduation, Carey majored in music education at the University of Tennessee. Feeling the stress of higher education, his focus shifted yet again; this time it was toward his spiritual journey. His focus veered toward having a quiet mind, while maintaining a sensitivity to the subtle flow of the environment around him. In addition to practicing tai chi, Carey also used different forms of meditation to develop skills to help maintain peace of mind. Years later, all of these phases in life are leading to a balance among the mind, body, and soul (always a work in progress).
Now, Carey enjoys practicing the martial art of kung fu, and massage therapy. As a Licensed Massage Therapist, he finds that those two worlds complement each other exquisitely.
My Passion
My passion is teaching. My fascination is in body mechanics. The fact I have the privilege of incorporating those two concepts into my life brings me joy. Whether it’s through martial arts, massage therapy, or even while hiking with my hound (Howie), I bring that joy with me.
My Goals
My goal is to help bring balance into your life through Fare Well Massage. Whether you’re emotionally and physically stressed or injured, my aim is to bring about that balance through relaxation and healing. I employ the waves of yin/yang (e.g. empty/full, light/deep, ebb/flow) to help you achieve the necessary balance we all need, to gain that “at peace” feeling.
